Meet Review and Warm up Changes

    Parents,

The coaches have discussed and decided with Marion, Tigersharks Board President, approval to change the warm-up  and the cool down procedures. We realized after the last meet we had our swimmers in the water too early and they had to sit around and wait for over 1-1/2 hours before the meet started. We also realized there was some confusion about the use of the diving well for cooling down after swims.

It was decided to keep the warm up times to no more than two - 30 minute sessions no matter if it is a dual meet or a double dual meet, and we needed to clarify the expectations around cooling down or swimming in the diving well.

The new Warm Up Procedure will be as follows:

    1. Sewanee Swimmers need to be at the pool by 8:30 AM to get set up and ready to warm up.
    2. Sewanee swimmers - all groups - will start warm ups at 8:45 M. Warm ups will end at 9:15 AM. Note: there may be as many as 8 - 10 swimmers in each lane so circle swimming is a must.
    3. Parent Volunteers can begin putting event information on the 10 & U swimmers from 9:15 to 9:55 AM
    4. Timers and Officials will meet 9:30 - 9:45 AM
    5. Coaches and Referee Meeting 9:50-9:55
    6. Meet will start at 10:00 AM with the National Anthem.

There will be only one 10 minute break during the meet - mid way through the meet just after event #37 Boys 15-18 IM and before event #38 8U Girls Backstroke.

The new Cool Down Procedures will be as follows:

    1. The Diving Well may be used by any swimmer for warming down after a swim or warming up prior to a swim.
    2. ONLY FEET FIRST entry will be permitted.
    3. NO RACING STARTS ARE ALLOWED.
    4. CIRCLE SWIMMING will be used if there is more than one swimmer in a lane.
    5. There is no age limit, but rookie swimmers or those who have some difficulty swimming 25 yards quickly will not be allowed to use the warm down pool unless accompanied by their coach.
