Tigersharks 2020 and COVID-19 Update

    April 18, 2020

    Dear Tigershark Families,

I’ve held off from writing this email, because I was hoping against hope that we might be able to still have a Tigershark season of some sort this summer. It is clear that is no longer possible. As many of you are likely aware, the University recently released their decision that all in-person summer programs will be cancelled and all facilities will be closed through the end of July due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This decision obviously affects the Sewanee Tigersharks and our ability to hold a 2020 summer league season. I had a Zoom meeting with the Tigershark Board members Shannon Allen and Lauren Goodpaster, Head Coach John Noffsinger, and Assistant Coach Nan Long this morning, and we wanted to communicate to our Tigershark families to confirm that there will be no summer season for 2020. We are all deeply saddened by this, but we don’t see any possibility of a return to the water this summer. We hope that everyone is staying safe and healthy, and we look forward to reconvening as a team in the summer of 2021.

    Sincerely,

    Marion Knoll, Tigershark Board President
