Tigershark Registration Opening 10 am Sat morning - Read this first

    Dear Tigershark Parents,

Registration will be opening for the 2021 Tigershark season by about 10:00 am this morning! We have a few final details for the season that we are still nailing down, but we are definitely ready to open registration today.

Please read these instructions carefully before you register your swimmer(s), because some aspects of registration will look a little different to those of you who are returning Tigershark parents.

The first page you will see is Personal Information. This should pre-load your information from the past, but there are some different sections that relate specifically to COVID. Please make sure you read the Pool and Practice Rules closely since some of them are different, and also read the COVID Protocols closely.

The second page is Athlete Groups. This will look really different for many of you, since we now have it set up to allow you to choose different options. The only options available to your child based on their age will appear for each kid individually under Athlete Groups. Coaches will have the discretion to move a child to a different group during the season if they determine it is appropriate for the swimmer.

    • To register your swimmer, (1) read the Descriptions by each Athlete Group Option closely, and (2) choose the group that matches your child in terms of age AND the swim requirement.

      • EX: Junior 1’s should be between 5 - 12 years of age and must be able to swim 1 full length of Free and Back.
    • For Junior 1, Junior 2, Pre-Senior, and Senior RETURNING Tigershark swimmers, select the group that your child was in at the end of the 2019 season UNLESS they were also in the MAC Purple or MAC Blue groups in March of 2020 (see instructions below).

      • Swimmers that were in MAC Purple in March 2020 should register in Junior 2.
      • Swimmers that were in MAC Blue in March 2020 should register in PreSenior.
    • Rookie 1’s and Rookie 2’s have the most choice and that may look the most confusing to you. Here’s the bottom line:

      • Rookie 1 Full Season and Rookie 2 Full Season allows you to register your child for the entire 7 week season (1 organizational/evaluation week and 6 weeks of swimming). This is just like in the past, although numbers will be lower and we still aren’t sure how we are organizing the coach to swimmer ratio. We are waiting on enrollment to determine that, and we will make sure to do it safely.
      • Rookie 1 Session A and Rookie 2 Session A allow you to register your swimmer for ONLY 2 weeks of swimming, the weeks of 5/31 - 6/11.
      • Rookie 1 Session B and Rookie 2 Session B is the same concept, but for weeks of 6/14 - 6/25, while Rookie 1 Session C and Rookie 2 Session C is for weeks of 6/28 - 7/9.
      • Finally, the Rookie 1 and Rookie 2 A + B, B + C, and A + C options allow you to enroll your child in two of the 2-week Rookie sessions based on the dates that work best for your family.

Please let me know if you are having any trouble with registration by responding to this email. I’ll be keeping an eye on registration numbers today, tomorrow, and over the next few days. I will put out an email immediately if we have to close a group and move to a waiting list.

Many thanks for your patience as we have worked on final details these last few weeks. I also want to thank Max Obermiller, John Noffsinger, Nan Long, Shannon Allen, and Lauren Goodpaster for all their additional help behind the scenes. A special thanks to Tigershark parent Dr Mary Heath for her assistance in making sure we are following COVID protocols.

    Marion Knoll, Tigershark Board President
