​Sewanee Tigersharks Prevail over Tullahoma Swim Club in Exciting Third Meet of 2022 Season

    On Thursday, June 16, the Sewanee Tigersharks traveled to Tullahoma and competed against Tullahoma Swim Club in a closely matched meet that came down to relay points earned at the end of the meet. The Tigersharks prevailed over Tullahoma by a score of 291 to 177.

    Seven 1st place finishes in the 100 Free Relays at the end of the meet clinched the win over Tullahoma by scoring a combined total of 49 points: 8 & U Boys Daniel Comoretto/8, Grant Rundle/8, Axton Ladd/6, Ian Brain/8 (1:48.04); 9-10 Girls Arabella Barry/9, Ella Brain/9, Sophia Barry/9, Kyla Kilgore/10 (1:25.45); 11-12 Girls Jane Shealy/11, Ella Matthews/12, Maggie Lu Rudd/12, Lily Camp/11 (1:21.88); 11-12 Boys Archer Ladd/11, Will Roberts12, Max Goodpaster/11, Konrad Knoll/11 (1:03.49); 13-14 Boys Will Turrell/13, Ayden Allen/12, Sam Goodpaster/14, Cullen Thompson/8 (1:19.47); 15-19 Girls Lucie Watch/18, Sienna Barry15, Sara Knight/15, Maya Mauzy/15 (58.20); 15-19 Boys Eli Matthews/14, Cabell Thompson/11, Martin Brodsky/12, Zolon Knoll/18 (1:09.44). Additional first place finishes from the 9-10 Medley Relay Team (Jack Roberts/10, Kyla Kilgore/10, Arabella Barry/9, Kam Kilgore/9), 13-14 Medley Relay Team (Caroline Neubauer/14, Sam Goodpaster/14, Will Turrell/13, Isabel Eko/14), and 15-19 Medley Relay Team (Lucie Watch/18, Maya Mauzy/15, Zolon Knoll/18, Konrad Knoll/11) added 21 points to the team’s total score.

    Several Tigershark swimmers took first place in three of their individual events including Zolon Knoll in the 15-19 Boys 50 Breaststroke, 50 Backstroke, 50 Butterfly; Caroline Neubauer in the 13-14 Girls 100 IM, 50 Backstroke, 50 Butterfly; Jack Roberts in the 9-10 Boys 50 Freestyle, 100 IM, 25 Butterfly; Will Turrell in the 13-14 Boys 50 Breaststroke, 100 IM, 50 Butterfly. Many swimmers earned 1st place finishes in one individual event including Arabella Barry in the 9-10 Girls 50 Freestyle, Ian Brain in the 7-8 Boys 25 Freestyle, Isabel Eko in the 13-14 Girls 50 Breaststroke, Colette Conrad in the Girls 6 & U 25 Freestyle, Sam Goodpaster in the 13-14 Boys 50 Freestyle,Cooper Knight in the 9-10 Boys 25 Breaststroke, Konrad Knoll in the 11-12 Boys 50 Backstroke, Aralyn Ladd in the 25 Backstroke, Axton Ladd in the 6 & Under Boys 25 Backstroke, Maya Mauzy in the Girls 15 & Older 100 IM.

    Tigershark swimmers are improving rapidly this summer. Time improvements were earned again in approximately 50 percent of the individual races in the meet. Newcomer Cece Brehm (7) dropped 30.98 sec in the 25 Freestyle, and Rachel Rundle (12) dropped 18.53 sec in the 50 Freestyle. Rachel Rundle (12), Martin Brodsky (12), Sadie Camp (9), and Eli Matthews (14) all swam their first Breaststroke event in the meet.

    The Tigersharks host the McMinnville Swim Team on Saturday, June 18 at the University of the South Natatorium.
