Sewanee Tigersharks Clinch Win Over McMinnville with IM's and Strong Relay Finishes

    On Saturday, July 17, the Sewanee Tigershark swim team hosted McMinnville Swim Team in their fourth dual meet of the 2022 summer season. The Tigersharks prevailed over a large McMinnville team with key wins in the Individual Medley Events and Relay Events, ultimately winning the meet by a very close score of 300 points to 270 points.

    Suzy Camp (7) completed her first-ever Individual Medley, taking first in the Girls 8 & Under Category in a time of 3:08.51. Additional first places finishes in the Individual Medleys included Kyla Kilgore (10) in Girls 9-10 Category with a new best time of 2:03.78, Jack Roberts (10) in the 9-10 Boys, Will Roberts (12) in the 11-12 Boys with a new best time of 1:39.55, Sam Goodpaster (14) in the 13-14 Boys with a new best time of 1:33.57, Lucie Watch (18) in the 15-19 Girls with a new best time of 1:23.84, and Zolon Knoll (18) in the 15-19 Boys with a time of 1:09.41. Jane Shealey (11) also picked up points with a strong 2:14.73 3rd place finish in the 11-12 Girls Individual Medley.

    Relay wins again played a huge part in the overall scores earned by the Tigershark team:

    Jack Roberts, Cooper Knight, Arabella Barry, and Kyla Kilgore combined to win the 9-10 Mixed Medley Relay (1:34.63); Will Roberts, Lily Camps, Konrad Knoll, and Ella Matthews took first in the 11-12 Mixed Medley Relay (1:24.24); Lucie Watch, Maya Mauzy, Zolon Knoll, and Elliott Benson took first in the 15-19 Mixed Medley Relay (1:04.57). Tigershark newcomers Daniel Comoretto and Atticus Loose teamed up with Grant Rundle and Ian Brain to take first in the 8 & Under Boys 100 Free Relay (2:01.46); Max Goodpaster, Martin Brodsky, and Will Roberts and 8-year old Cullen Thompson clinched first with a time of 1:21.67 in the 11-12 Boys 100 Free Relay; Eli Matthews, Sam Goodpaster, 12 year old Ayden Allen and 11 year old Cabell Thompson took first in the 13-14 Boys 100 Free Relay (1:15.77); Lucie Watch, Ellie Jenkins, Sara Knight, and Maya Mauzy finished first in the 15-19 Girls 100 Free Relay; and Zolon Knoll teamed up with 11 year old Konrad Knoll, 12 year old Sawyer Barry, and 13 year old Will Turrell to clinch the win over McMinnville with a fast 1:00.00 15-19 Boys 100 Free Relay.

    The Sewanee Tigersharks have a week off from competition and will host their annual Lap-a-Thon on Wednesday, June 23, before returning to the pool for their final dual meet of the season against the Manchester Makos at 5:15 pm on Tuesday, June 28.
