Tigersharks Defeat McMinnville and Marshall County

    On Saturday, June 24, the Sewanee Tigersharks hosted swim teams from McMinnville and Marshall County at the Fowler Center Natatorium. The Tigersharks defeated McMinnville 418 to 176 and Marshall County 393 to 215.

    Many Tigershark swimmers took first in all three of their individual events: Loulie Frazier in the 9-10 Girls. in 50 M Freestyle (38.44 sec), 100 M Individual Medley (1:41.77 sec), and 25 M Backstroke (20.26 sec); Sophia Hartman in the 15-18 Girls 50 M Breaststroke (46.23 sec), 100 M Individual Medley (1:29.53 sec), and 50 M Backstroke (43.26 sec); Konrad Knoll in the 6 & U Boys’ 25 M Freestyle (21.30 sec) and 25 M Backstroke (25.46 sec) and 7-8 Boys’ 100 M Individual Medley (2:05.38 sec); Kiran Malde in the 7-8 Boys’ 25 M Freestyle (18.71 sec), 25 M Breaststroke (25.66 sec), and 25 M Backstroke (23.23 sec); Libby Neubauer in the 11-12 Girls 50 M Freestyle (37.01 sec), 100 M Individual Medley (1:37.88 sec), and 25 M Backstroke (42.78 sec); Iliana Pate in the 13-14 Girls’ 50 M Freestyle (36.54 sec), 100 M Individual Medley (1:36.36 sec), and 50 M Butterfly (47.86 sec); Anara Summers in the 7-8 Girls’ 25 M Freestyle (29.23 sec), 100 M Individual Medley (2:08.10 sec), and 25 M Backstroke (27.48 sec); and Rosalind Thompson in her two personal events, the 6 & U Girls’ 25 M Freestyle (30.36 sec) and 25 M Backstroke (33.72 sec).

    The Sewanee Tigersharks dominated the relays as well against McMinnville and Marshall County, taking 1st place in every age group of the Mixed Medley Relays with the following teams: 8 & U Sarah Russell Roberson, Anara Summers, Sam Frazier, and Kiran Malde; 9-10 Maya Mauzy, Emery Preslar, Loulie Frazier, and Miles Mundkowsky; 11-12 David Dolack, Reese Michaels, Libby Neubauer, and Konrad Knoll; 13-14 Harrison Hartman, Luciana Mollica, Porter Neubauer, and Iliana Pate; 15-18 Owen Pearson, Sophia Hartman, Zoey Craft, and Aidan Smith. In the Freestyle Relays, the 8 & U Boys’ team (Sam Frazier, Theo Michaels, Konrad Knoll, and Kiran Malde), 9-10 Girls’ team (Maya Mauzy, Sienna Barry, Stella Wilson, and Loulie Frazier), 11-12 Girls’ team (Verena Pate, Lindsey McBride, Reese Michaels, and Libby Neubauer), 13-14 Girls (Luciana Mollica, Jenna Black, Iliana Pate, and Caroline Neubauer) and Boys teams (Porter Neubauer, Harrison Hartman, Dylan Kiningham, and David Dolack), and 15-18 Boys’ team (Larson Heitzenrater, Jack Haight, Aidan Smith, and Owen Pearson) all took 1st place at the meet.

    Almost all swimmers had time drops in one or more events, including 7 year old Addy Knight with a 14.26 second time improvement in the 25 M Backstroke and 7 year old Beatrice Pate with a 10.41 second time improvement in the 25 M Freestyle.

    The Sewanee Tigersharks are coached by Head Coach John Noffsinger and Assistant Coaches Nan Long and Alyssa Summers.
