Another Win for the Tigersharks Against the Penguins

    On Tuesday, June 27, the Sewanee Tigersharks swim team hosted the Winchester Penguins at the Fowler Center Natatorium. The Tigersharks were victorious over the Penguins by a score of 339 to 243. The girls’ team won 150 to 106, and the boys’ team won 158 to 118.

    Exceptional performances in the meet were achieved by several swimmers who took first place in all three individual events: 9-10 Girls’ Loulie Frazier in the 50 M Freestyle, 100 M Individual Medley and 25 M Butterfly; 13-14 Boys’ Zolon Knoll in the 50 M Freestyle, 100 M Individual Medley, and 50 M Backstroke; 11-12 Girls’ Libby Neubauer in the 50 M Freestyle, 100 M Individual Medley, and 50 M Backstroke; 7-8 Girls’ Sarah Russell Roberson in the 25 M Freestyle, 25 M Breaststroke, and 25 M Butterfly; 6 & U Girls’ Rosalind Thompson in the 25 M Freestyle and 25 M Backstroke, and 9-10 Boys’ Toby Van de Ven in the 50 M Freestyle.

    Additional Tigershark swimmers who took first place in one or more events include Sarah Grace Burns (14) in the 50 M Breaststroke, Konrad Knoll (6) in the 25 M Freestyle and 25 M Backstroke, Kiran Malde (8) in the 25 M Breaststroke, Maya Mauzy (10) in the 25 M Breaststroke and 25 M Backstroke, Reese Michaels (11) in the 50 M Breaststroke, Porter Neubauer (14) in the 50 M Breaststroke and 50 M Butterfly, Emery Preslar (10) in the 25 M Breaststroke and 25 M Backstroke, Aidan Smith (15) in the 50 M Butterfly, Anara Summers (7) in the 100 M Individual Medley and 25 M Butterfly, and Harper Thompson (8) in the 25 M Backstroke.

    The Tigershark swimmers have been training hard, which was evident in that many swimmers achieved significant time drops this meet including 8 year old Alex Dolack with an 11.01 second drop in the 25 M Freestyle and 9 year old Stella Wilson with a 15.18 second drop in the 100 M Individual Medley.

    On Saturday, July 8, the Sewanee Tigersharks host their last regular season meet against the Manchester Makos at 10:00 am at the Fowler Center Natatorium before hosting the RACE League Championships on Saturday, July 15.
